Happy Hour as a national institution began in earnest in the 1960s – yes, it goes back much farther – when bars and restaurants used discounts to attract customers in slower afternoon hours, but one of the best trends is restaurants offering a late Happy Hour to keep guests in the building after the peak dinner hours. Oklahoma City has an excellent selection of “early” and “late” happy hour, and most of them include food specials, especially bar snacks or appetizers.
Classic Happy Hours
The Crain
Happy Hour: 2 – 6 p.m., Monday – Friday
The Crain opened in December last year, bringing owner Ross Crain’s decades of hospitality experience to his own eponymous concept. The Crain Happy Hour offers $7 featured wines, $3 off all beer, and most importantly, discounted appetizers, including their stellar prime rib sliders, poutine fries and wings.
The Hamilton Supperette & Lounge
Happy Hour: Various drink specials
One of north OKC’s favorite destinations, The Hamilton Supperette & Lounge, offers Happy Hour specials despite already having a busy bar. Choose from an Evan Williams Old Fashioned, house-made sangria, $8 select wines and $4 beers. The bar food menu includes smoked salmon, a fresh pretzel, shrimp cocktail and spinach artichoke dip. It’s not on the specials menu, but it’s a great time to try the Aaron Burr-ger, one of OKC’s best burgers.
O Bar
Happy Hour: 4 – 6 p.m. daily
Martini Monday: 4 p.m. – close
Head to O Bar for ‘Happier Hour’ every day from 4 – 6 p.m. or enjoy ‘Martini Monday’ for $10 featured martinis from 4 p.m. to close. Their menu features small bites like oysters, tapas and a cheese and charcuterie board, as well as hearty mains like fillets and fries.

One of the city’s best new restaurants, Akai Sushi in Wheeler District, offers a late Happy Hour with $6 canned beer, $8 select wines and $9 sake. Shareable options include the Salmon K-Pop roll and Yellowtail-Jalapeno Carpaccio. Owner Viet Pham added the late option for his Wheeler neighbors, but anyone can enjoy the deals.
Jimmy B’s
Happy Hour: 3 – 5:30 p.m. daily & within one hour of close nightly
Jimmy B’s has embraced both Happy Hour options – they call it Social Hour – so you can get specials from 3 – 5:30 p.m. daily and within one hour of close nightly, including $8 draft wine, $3 off classic cocktails and beer and a $7 beer-and-shot special on select beverages. They also offer wagyu dumplings, ramen and $7 bar bites like Chef Richard Ly’s hand-rolled pork dumplings, California rolls and wings.
